107 N. Main Update

We want to share an update about our proposed building renovation at 107 N. Main, in El Dorado.

As you know, since 2018 when Loren and Kathy Jack acquired and generously gave the building at 107 N. Main to Branches, we have had a vision for what could be the future of Branches at that location. Over the years our team has worked very hard to raise the necessary funds. Last summer we pursued a grant opportunity that, at first seemed promising. Unfortunately however, after much time, resource and effort, we learned that the amount awarded to Branches was less than half of what was originally promised. If accepted, Branches would have had to raise the additional funds in a short amount of time due to the requirements of the grant. Furthermore, the grant also required a childcare component that would be added to our services. However, there was some concern about the viability at that location. Ultimately, the Board made the difficult decision to decline the grant.

So as to not place anymore undue stress or distraction on our staff with a continuing capital campaign, it is with a heavy heart that the Board decided to sell the building at 107 N. Main. In fact, the property is currently under contract with a full price offer, and set to tentatively close on April 12th, 2024. Our hope is the next owner can transform this 144 year old historic structure into something downtown El Dorado can be proud of. While this was not an easy decision to come to, we’re trusting that this good work will be brought to completion; even if it’s not how we envisioned it originally.

To those who generously donated to the building fund over the past six years, we’ve developed a plan. After expenses incurred, we’re left with around $300,000 in the Building Fund. Since these funds were raised for a specific cause, they are currently restricted and unable to be used for anything else within Branches. After consulting with experts on this matter, we have developed two options for you, going forward: One, you can release these funds to our General Account to be used for Branches, thereby un-restricting them; or Two, you can request that your donation(s) be returned. Please let us know of your desired intent by July 1, 2024, by sending an email to board@pregnancyandfamily.org. If no response is received by July 1st, we will assume that your donations can be un-restricted and transferred to our General Account.

We want to thank everyone who has given time, finances, and prayer to this effort over the past six years. May our Heavenly Father who sees what is done, reward you. If you have any questions, please reach out to the Board of Directors at board@pregnancyandfamily.org.

Concerning our current locations at 226 S. Main in El Dorado and 510 State St. in Augusta, they remain open and continue to serve the community.

May God Bless You and Your Family,

Branches Board of Directors
